Silicon-based heterogeneous integrated chip solution of LUSTER unveiled at Optinet 2021

From June 16th to 17th, OPTINET 2021, hosted by the Optical Communication Professional Committee of the Chinese Institute of Communications and the Communication Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Beijing. More than dozens of well-known companies including  LUSTER, Huawei, ZTE and Fiberhome attended.


This seminar focuses on the standards and technological development of next-generation optical transmission, the development of all-optical networks, and optoelectronic devices. The construction of next generation of ultra-large-scale data centers and hot issues such as optical network optical modules were discussed.


Leping WEI, executive deputy director of the Communication Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting and delivered an opening speech, giving a wonderful in-depth outlook on the "Ten trends and challenges in the development of all-optical networks".


In the report, Mr. WEI made a prediction on the development trend of all-optical networks in the next five to ten years from the perspective of operators.


As a provider of high-end product solutions in the field of optical technology in China, LUSTER was invited to participate in the exhibition.  Dr. Hua ZHANG, director of LUSTER solution department, shared "Innovative process silicon-based heterogeneous integration technology to help data centers High-speed Internet" keynote speech.


In the report, Dr. ZHANG elaborated on the current progress of silicon-based heterogeneous integration technology, and focused on Skorpios's innovative process : on a 1.5 µm thick silicon platform, the use of wafer-level packaging technology to achieve III-V lasers and modulator and silicon-based heterogeneous integration scheme, as well as product development and application in data center optical modules. The application of silicon-based heterogeneous integration technology has triggered everyone's discussion.
